The Vetala developed their own pathway to devour quintessence, from here not the lifeforce in earthly blood, but metaphysical consciousness. The Vetala feasts upon the memories of their victims, experiencing their lives; briefly stealing the experiences of others, and leaves what remains, no matter how important or inconsequential, as feeling defiled.
For most, the memories stolen are nothing more than horded by the Vetala, with no means of sifting through. But those enlightened may be able to organize and harness what is taken from their victims. Vetala lose all standard Vampiric Boons.
