| Naming Conventions: Tian hobgoblins (especially those in the empire of Kaoling) have embraced a naming system that mimics the aristocratic structures of the Dragon Empires. Their given name usually has a powerful meaning, revolving around strength and duty.Their names blend the harsh, percussive sounds of the Goblin tongue with the tonal structure of Tien. i.e. Bao-Feng, Shan-Gai, and Hui-Zhen. |
Overview
Tian Xia hobgoblins are highly disciplined and militaristic with a history of conquest that predates that of Avistan. Following the collapse of the Great Imperial Lung Wa, hobgoblin armies marched out of the mountains and seized the central plains. Much of their culture is deeply influenced by the aesthetics and philosophies of the Dragon Empires.
Physical Description
While physically identical to Avistani hobgoblins (gray/orange skintones), their armor sets them apart from the Avistan. They typically wear O-yoroi (lamellar plate) or heavy mountain-pattern armor rather than the western-style breastplates seen in Avistan. A Tian hobgoblin is more likely to wield a Katana, Naginata, or a heavy Tetsubo (greatclub) instead of a longsword or halberd.
