Essari Lizardfolk mostly live in swamps, rivers, and deltas. They venerate their families and ancestors with a communal existence deeply tied to nature. They revere nature through animistic practices. They are separated into clans that live in villages led by a Shaman or the most capable hunters.

Essari lizardfolk are loyal and honorable, but are cautious of outsiders. They have great survival skills. They are patient and share responsibility collectively. Essari lizardfolk express themselves through posture, tail movements, and subtle throat or frill displays.

Essari are tall and stand between 1.98m to 2.3m. They are powerfully built reptilians with long torsos, and digitigrade legs that make their posture forward leaning. Their heads are long and resemble a crocodile. The color of the scales ranges from deep river-green, algae-brown, slate gray, and muddy ochre. This gives them camouflage into their environment. They have long thick tails that help them be formidable swimmers. And their feet and hands are webbed and have claws.
