Cavern Drow
| Spoken Language: Drow, Undercommon |
| Naming Conventions: Cavern Drow naming is a blend of traditional elven melody and predatory sharpness. Unlike surface elves, who choose names based on nature or beauty, Drow names are designed to sound aristocratic, intimidating, and ancient. Most low-born Drow do not have surnames. They are identified by their trade or their patron. They might be called “Vorn the Fletcher” or “Vorn of the Third Spire.” |
Overview
“Cavern Drow” refers to the standard Drow residing in the middle layer of the Darklands (Sekamina). They are the descendants of elves who fled underground during the Earthfall (the cataclysm that destroyed ancient Azlant) and were transformed by the corrupting influence of the abyss and the dark energies of the depths. Unlike the elves of the surface, Drow have embraced a culture of extreme cruelty, demon worship, and matriarchal tyranny.
Cavern Drow make up the bulk of the population in cities and are usually soldiers, merchants, and specialized laborers. They serve the Great Houses but are not part of the nobility. They also live in a constant state of fear and ambition. They are intensely xenophobic and take pride in their mastery over slaves, as it’s the only way they can feel superior in a society that treats them as expendable.
